Credit unions such as CFCU are government-chartered to serve specific, restricted groups of people. This “field of membership” can be based on employment, location, or even membership in a non-profit association.

Before you apply for membership, check the Eligibility section below to see how you are eligible to join.

How to Join

Branches    Online 

What you’ll need:

  • Social Security Number
  • Current U.S. Passport, State ID, or Driver's License
  • Employment Information
  • Initial deposit ($25 single, $50 joint)

The membership process in a branch usually takes about 30 minutes to complete.

A Financial Services Representative (FSR) will complete your application with you, verify your identity, and determine your eligibility.

Once your membership has been approved and your initial deposit made, the FSR will provide you with your membership card, disclosures, and a Welcome Packet.

You can also order checks and Debit cards, get assistance setting up your
PC Access Online Banking account, and learn about other CFCU products and services while in the branch.

Funding information if making initial deposit electronically (routing number and account number from another financial institution or account number from an existing CFCU account)

To apply for membership online,
click here and select Become a Member. (To open a membership for a minor, select Open a Minor Account.) Select your method of eligibility, read the disclosures, and follow the directions to complete and submit the application.

A Credit Union representative will review your application and contact you if more information is required.

Once your application is approved, final documents and disclosures will be sent via DocuSign for your electronic signature.



CFCU's field of membership includes:*

  • Employees of Chevron Corporation, its wholly-owned subsidiaries and select affiliates worldwide, and their immediate family members
  • Employees of the Law Offices of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP and their immediate family members
  • Chevron branded jobbers and dealers, federal lubricant marketers (jobbers), and their employees and immediate family members
  • Chevron Corporation retirees (including retirees from Unocal Corporation, Texaco Inc., and any other Chevron merger company) and their immediate family members
  • Select contractors of Chevron Corporation, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, Western Refining, and Aramco Services Company (please contact us to confirm membership eligibility), and their immediate family members
  • Employees of Stewart Title Guaranty Company and their immediate family members
  • Family of CFCU members — parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, spouse or domestic partner, siblings — even roommates or unrelated persons who live with you and share your household expenses
  • Members of the select, partner non-profit associations

*If you do not fall within our regular field of membership, you can join one of our partner non-profit associations to become eligible for CFCU membership.
