Overdraft Protection

In today’s financial landscape of automatic payments and paperless billing, accidental overdrafts can happen. But Chevron Federal Credit Union has your back.

Our overdraft protection allows you to link your Member Checking account(s) to your Primary Share Savings, Money Market Savings, and/or Personal Line of Credit accounts, so funds can be transferred automatically should an overdraft occur.*

Funds will be transferred in the following order:

  1. Available funds in your Primary Share Savings account will be transferred to your Member Checking account.
  2. If there are insufficient funds available in your Primary Share Savings account to cover the overdraft and you have a Sub-Savings account, transfers will be made from this account.
  3. If there are insufficient funds available in your Primary Share Savings account or Sub-Savings account(s) to cover the overdraft and you have a Money Market Savings account, transfers will be made from this account.
  4. If there are insufficient funds available in your Primary Share Savings account, Sub-Savings account(s), and Money Market Savings account(s) to cover the overdraft and you have a personal line of credit in good standing, loan advance transfers will be made from this account.
We’re here to help you put overdraft fees behind you. To set up overdraft protection on your Member Checking account(s), please stop by your local Chevron Federal Credit Union branch, or give us a call at 800-232-8101. For those outside the U.S., please call 510-627-5000.

If you’d like the transfer of your funds to happen in a different order, please contact Chevron Federal Credit Union.

* Transfers will be made in $100 increments, and they are limited to a maximum of six per month.
