Our Board of Directors sets policy while our Supervisory Committee oversees all aspects of Chevron Federal Credit Union’s operations and provides guidance to Chevron Federal Credit Union’s professional staff. Both the board members and the internal committee members are unpaid volunteers who have a personal interest in the Credit Union’s success because they are also member-owners.

Credit unions are, and have always been, cooperative organizations. They originated in Europe in the 19th century to combat the then-common practice of the wealthy lending money at high rates of interest to those with less wealth. People banded together in protest and started to pool their available money and lend it, at reasonable rates, to their peers in need.

The shares in your Chevron Federal Credit Union accounts are federally insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), which is an arm of the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), to at least $250,000 per individual depositor, per account category. So you can rest easy knowing your money is protected.

Similar to the insurance provided to banks through the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the NCUSIF is backed by the full faith and credit of the United States.
